During the flood last summer, this low-lying mountain village was severely affected, with 51 households in the village suffering from housing damage, of which more than 40 households did not meet the conditions for restoration and reconstruction on the original site. Wang Baowei's family is the latter. The dry toilet turned into a toilet, the earth well was used to fetch water and enter the house. The walls were made of solid bricks, and the exterior walls and roofs were paved with thick insulation... A flood hit his life, and a relocation brought his life to a turning point. This Spring Festival, four generations of 11 people in the family spend a warm winter in their new home.

What made him even more excited was that on January 22, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to his house on the Little New Year of the Northern Lunar New Year. This time, when he went to Zhujiagou Village, the General Secretary visited and comforted the affected people and inspected the local recovery and reconstruction after the flood disaster last year. When he walked into the home of the villagers who moved into his new home, the General Secretary asked the family carefully. It was cold at the end of the year, and the people in the disaster area were the General Secretary’s constant concern.

The new home, a warm harbor for the affected people in winter, is also the trust of tomorrow's livelihood and confidence in life. In recent years, in the General Secretary’s New Year’s footsteps, micro-lenses of going to the disaster area to enter the homes of ordinary people, interpreting the deep feelings of the people’s leaders.

On February 1 last year, on the 22nd day of the 1st lunar month, the General Secretary went to Tianjin on the eve of the Spring Festival, and the first stop was at Dilibu Village, Xinkou Town, Xiqing District. Before that, a major flood occurred in the Haihe River and the village suffered a disaster.

Walking into the home of villager Du Honggang, the General Secretary held the hand of the elderly at home tightly, and chatted with each other in the same family. From medical insurance for the elderly to children's studies to employment for young people, he asked me carefully. Hearing that "this year is a happy year for the whole family", the General Secretary was very moved: "The country is peaceful and the people can be safe and sound. The Party Central Committee and Party Committees and governments at all levels always keep in mind the safety of everyone. They also hope that the villagers can rely on their own hands to rebuild a beautiful home and create a happy life."

Before, on the eve of the Spring Festival in 2022, the General Secretary came to Linfen City, Shanxi Province for inspection in the snow. Previously, Shanxi had the strongest autumn flood since meteorological records. Four caves in Shi Hongbing’s villager in Fengnanyuan Village, Shizhuang Township, Huozhou City all collapsed due to heavy rainfall. Fortunately, with the help of the local government, the two new houses were quickly rebuilt on the original site.

In Shi Hongbing's new home, the General Secretary carefully inspected the courtyard and housing, and cordially asked them whether the quality of the reconstruction housing was good, whether the New Year's goods had been purchased, and what difficulties were there. Shi Hongbing told the General Secretary that the reconstruction cost was about 100,000 yuan for 2 rooms, 50 square meters, and the individual paid only 12,000 yuan. "The family can celebrate the New Year with a solid foundation. I sincerely thank the Party and the government!"

When I was young, I spent seven years of cold winter on the northern Shaanxi Plateau. The General Secretary knew about the long winter in the north and the colder mountains. Keeping in mind the warmth and warmth of the affected villagers is not only in the General Secretary’s New Year’s footprints, but also a worry that is always uneasy. In November 2023, in Shuiyuzui Village, Mentougou District, Beijing, the General Secretary visited the home where the villager Li Meng had completed the repair after the disaster. Standing in the living room with clear windows, the General Secretary looked through the photos of the houses when they were damaged, and asked in detail about the damage to the house, repair expenses, heating, etc.; in Wanquanzhuang Village, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province, the General Secretary came to the home of a villager Yang Peiran to learn about their family income, repair expenses, production recovery, etc....

Whether the new home is good, the General Secretary listened to the villagers' most sincere feelings after moving in, and also gave advice on reconstruction during the inspection.

In September 2023, the General Secretary, who was inspecting and investigating in Heilongjiang, set off from Harbin, took a train and changed cars to Longwangmiao Village, Laojie Township, Shangzhi City, which was seriously affected. Next to the farmland, a disaster-destroying house is being rebuilt and it will be possible to put on the beam in a few days. When he walked into the construction site, the General Secretary carefully inquired about the house area, layout, and seismic magnitude from the on-site construction staff. In the bedroom, the General Secretary pointed to the reserved kang and asked repeatedly, "What other ways to keep heating?" "You need to keep the exterior walls warm, right?" The General Secretary reminded: "It's cold in the northeast, and you can't get frozen in winter!"

Let the affected people live in a warm and warm place, and the General Secretary has unchanged concerns. In the hearts of the affected people, the sense of security brought by "home" not only comes from small homes built with bricks and stones, but also from countries that concentrate their efforts on major tasks.

After the Ludian earthquake in Yunnan that year, the General Secretary took a plane and drove a car, and went there all the way, and walked into five tents to visit the people. In the tent where Zou Tifu and his grandson lived, the General Secretary touched the quilt and asked, "Is it warm or not?" The old couple replied, "Warm". Even if the home is rebuilt, a warm tent and a warm quilt are "carefully caring for our family."

Not long ago, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet, causing major casualties and a large number of houses collapsed. General Secretary Xi Jinping attached great importance to it and made important instructions, pointing out that "we should speed up the repairs and damage to infrastructure, arrange the basic lives of the people, and ensure a safe and warm winter."

The words of the General Secretary during his inspection in Shangzhi City gave people lasting confidence and peace of mind: "In China, when the people encounter difficulties, they should still give full play to the superiority of the socialist system.
