CCTV News: Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the "Guidelines for Science Education in Primary and Secondary Schools" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines"), focusing on continuously improving the construction of the scientific curriculum system, improving and innovating the teaching system, and strengthening the construction of the faculty team, providing a specific implementation path.

The "Guidelines" propose that the education administrative department fully equip primary school science teachers according to teaching needs to ensure that science teachers have a teacher qualification certificate for science-related subjects, and promote the realization of at least one master's degree science teacher with a background in science and engineering in each primary school. Fully equipped teachers in junior high and high school science and related disciplines (physics, chemistry, biology, geography, information technology, information technology, general technology, etc.). Optimize the management system of science course teachers, improve the evaluation system, ensure that you enjoy the same treatment as other full-time teachers in performance appraisal, professional title evaluation, excellence evaluation, professional development, etc., formulate incentive policies to promote professional growth, and effectively stimulate the enthusiasm of teachers. Explore the establishment of a science course teacher sharing center, diversify the development of faculty sharing channels, and encourage key teachers to teach in weak schools.

Ensure that each school has at least 1 vice president of science, and encourage and support scientists and science and engineering experts from high-level comprehensive universities, research institutes and other units to serve as vice presidents of science.

Promote high-level normal universities to open science education majors, optimize the curriculum setting and training model of science education majors in normal colleges, and encourage the cultivation of comprehensive education and teaching capabilities by increasing the proportion of cross-professional learning and practical teaching. Increase the proportion of science education students training in public-funded normal students programs and support comprehensive universities to train science course teachers. The cultivation of scientific literacy for primary and secondary school teachers will be included in the provincial and municipal teacher training and the "National Training Plan" and other teacher training projects, and explore the construction of regional science education centers.

The "Guidelines" clearly state that students' daily experimental operations and participation in scientific inquiry practice activities should be included in the comprehensive quality evaluation content. Include experimental operations in the junior high school academic achievement test. Areas with conditions should explore the inclusion of experimental operations such as physics, chemistry and biology in the academic achievement examination of ordinary high schools.

The "Guidelines" also require that scientific education should be strengthened in the school curriculum implementation plan, promote collaborative education of national curriculum, local curriculum and school-based curriculum, increase the proportion of scientific after-school services, and strengthen the construction of campus science and culture.
