Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, January 21 Title: Ice and snow are flying, youth are coming to an appointment - Taiwanese youth feel the diverse charm of the mainland in winter

Xinhua News Agency reporters Wang Chenghao, Yang Xuan, Zhang Yujie

The scenery of the northern country covered in silver, colorful cultural travel, and the vigorous pulse of mainland development... It was the winter vacation, and a group of Taiwanese youth crossed the strait and came on the snow. With the longing of "a hundred hearing is better than seeing", they personally visited the vast land of the mainland, immersed in every scenery and every story.

In recent days, the 31st Youth Winter Camp for Taiwan Compatriots in the All-China Federation of Taiwan Federations has been in full swing in 17 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. The campers are mainly young students from the island, with a total size of about 1,000 people, of which more than half of the "first-coming tribes" are experiencing the diverse charm of the mainland in winter.

Seeking Frozen

The white snow is a "mysterious and yearning" existence for young people in Baodao. The first time they enjoy snow, skiing, and snowball fights... In the mainland, they unlocked the surprises of "the first time in life".

Wang Xuan, who lives in New Taipei, came to Harbin's Ice and Snow World with the Heilongjiang Branch Camp. The various exquisite ice sculptures and snow sculptures in front of her made her famous, "especially when night falls, the ice sculptures under the lights are even more dazzling." The "Ice and Snow Kingdom" in the mouth of the king brought her "double shock between vision and soul".

In the "China Snow Township" scenic spot in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang, Wang Xuan couldn't wait to jump into the snow, creaking under his feet, as if he was in a "fairy tale world". "The snow in the 'Snow Country' is very thick, and some snow piles are even higher than the roof, but the white snow is refreshing." Zhao Kuan, a master's student in the Department of Sports of Fu Ren University in Taiwan, who was held in Chongli, Hebei, and was a branch of the Beijing branch. "Skip down from the slope, and the snowflakes that come towards you are flying catkins, which is extremely refreshing!"

This young man who loves surfing regards the "snow waves" under his feet as "waves". He found the rhythm on his first skiing. However, for most skiers, the challenge is even more difficult.

"I fell three steps and five steps and big steps, but I was still very happy." Stepping on the snowboard, Kang Xinping, a student at Fu Jen University in Taiwan, fell again and again in the snow, and got up again and again. Although the short skiing experience has not yet made her skilled, the joy of intimate contact with snow has satisfied her.

Exploring Multicultural Culture

When I came to Beijing, Kang Xinping was deeply shocked by the solemn and majestic yellow tiles and red walls of the Palace Museum. Compared with the Taipei Palace Museum focusing on cultural relics exhibitions, Kang Xinping feels that it has more historical charm. Walking in the numerous palaces, it seems to travel through hundreds of years of history. "I see many young brothers and sisters wearing traditional clothes to take photos and check in at the Forbidden City. The feeling of the interweaving of ancient and modern times is unique."

The history and culture of the Chinese nation are colorful and gorgeous. In Hunan Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, the unique customs of mainland ethnic minorities make Taiwanese friends feel very novel. As night falls, the ancient city of Phoenix is brightly lit, and various shops on both sides of the Tuojiang River are lined up one after another. Yang Qiaoyu, a 21-year-old student at Taipei University of Commerce, changed into a traditional Miao costume here.

"When I came to Xiangxi, the folk culture of ethnic minorities fascinated me, especially the performance of "Character Xiangxi" shocked me." Yang Qiaoyu said, "I was very moved to see the mainland's traditional national culture being well preserved and wonderfully interpreted by artists."

In the Xinjiang International Bazaar, Taiwanese youth were attracted by a wide range of commodities, characteristic buildings and ethnic songs and dances; in the ancient capital Beijing, the unique singing and melodious rhythm of the Beijing-rhyme drum made everyone fascinated; in Songyuan, Jilin, campers personally experienced the original fishing method of "artificial chiseling of ice, horse-drawn winches, and under the ice net"... The rich cultural and folk activities allowed Taiwanese youth to see the diverse side of the mainland.

Touch the modern pulse

On the first day of embarking on the mainland, Taiwanese youth Chen Zongxian took a bus from the Capital Airport to the urban area of Beijing. Next to the expressway, the lights of the buildings of the five buildings flashed, and the words "Beijing Welcomes You" were reflected. This made him feel not only the enthusiasm of Beijing, but also the beauty and prosperity of the modern urban construction in mainland China.

In recent days, the vigorous development of various fields in mainland China has opened up the horizons of Taiwanese youth. In Heilongjiang, Zeng Wenxuan, a student at the Hiking University of Science and Technology of Taiwan, was amazed at the advanced and complete ice and snow equipment industry; in Urumqi International Land Port Area, Taiwanese youth realized the wisdom of "being kind to neighbors and being harmonious with all nations" behind the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative; in Henan's "Dishui New Energy Vehicle Science Museum", everyone deeply explores the development and achievements of mainland new energy vehicles.

Walking into the mainland countryside, Hunan Branch led Taiwan Youth to visit Shibadong Village, the first place to promote "targeted poverty alleviation". "It is amazing that the mainland can pay attention to groups in a timely manner and provide help to them." In the view of Chen Peiyu from Taoyuan, the mainland is vast and various places need to pay attention to great wisdom and unified planning according to local conditions. "This is very admirable."

Sun Hongwen, chairman of the Cross-Strait Cultural and Economic Exchange Association, who participated in the event, said that some biased reports on the island may mislead Taiwanese youth, and here, everyone can listen with their ears and feel them with their bodies to understand a comprehensive and prosperous continent.

"The winter in mainland China is very cold, but the 'human touch' here makes people feel warm." Kang Xinping met many mainland peers in just a few days' itinerary. "We agreed to contact us frequently in the future. I will bring this friendship back to Taiwan, and I will also tell my friends around me what I see and hear."
