Cathospital Pacific said that the incident involved was flight CX811, which was an Airbus A350 passenger plane. It was from Boston to Hong Kong today. Shortly after taking off, it received a report of smoke from the cockpit and cabin. It returned to Boston according to the established procedures. The flight has landed safely and returned to the berth, and the engineering staff conducted a detailed inspection. Cathay Pacific apologizes for the incident to affected passengers.

According to flight tracking data, flight CX811 was originally scheduled to take off from Boston Logan International Airport at 01:09 am on January 20, but it was delayed by 39 minutes for some reason, and the actual departure time was 01:48. Shortly after the plane took off, the crew reported smoke in the cabin, stopped climbing and declared a state of emergency. The flight circled over the east coast of Boston to release fuel several times and finally landed safely at Boston Airport at 03:21.

According to the British Mirror and Daily Mail, Cathay Pacific flight CX811 declared a state of emergency shortly after leaving the airport. Subsequently, according to the Flighttradar24 website, the plane stopped climbing shortly after takeoff and circled several times, as if it was releasing fuel and preparing to land.

The social media user monitoring the incident said the pilot sent out the "7700" emergency code. Anthony Ochinger, an aviation technician in Naibiro, Kenya, wrote on the X platform: "Cathospice Airbus A350-1000 (B-LXM) flight CX811 from Boston to Hong Kong is about to return to Boston 17 minutes after departure. The A350 sent an emergency code 7700. Emergency vehicles are waiting for the plane."
