Pei Xiaofei, spokesperson of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, introduced that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently held the 2025 National Ecology and Environment Protection Work Conference to summarize the ecological and environmental protection work in 2024, analyze the current situation, and arrange and deploy key tasks in 2025. In 2024, the annual goals and tasks of ecological environment protection were successfully completed, and the quality of the ecological environment continued to improve. The average concentration of PM2.5 in cities at the prefecture level and above across the country was 29.3 micrograms/cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.7%, and has steadily met the standards for five consecutive years. The proportion of excellent surface water quality sections in the country reached 90.4%, exceeding 90% for the first time, an increase of 1.0 percentage points year-on-year. The national safe utilization rate of polluted arable land is expected to reach 92%, and the safe utilization of key construction land is effectively guaranteed.
