CCTV News: This weekend, the Chinese Academy of Sciences held the 21st Public Science Day event. More than 100 scientific research institutes and three colleges and universities of the Chinese Academy of Sciences were opened to the public, and nearly 400 popular science activities were organized to allow the audience to intuitively feel the charm of science, learn scientific knowledge, and ignite the passion of science.
Open scientific research venues to let the public approach the front line of scientific research

This Public Science Day, more than 20 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences conducted popular science lectures, online Q&A and interactive exchanges on popular topics of interest to the public, explaining the latest and most cutting-edge scientific research results, and inspiring young people to devote themselves to the cause of science. Staff from the Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences said that more than 400 venues have been opened this year, and more than 6,000 scientific researchers and graduate students and other volunteers participated in the event.

At the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the "Mysterious Explosion Hole" attracted a large number of audiences. Everyone walked into this laboratory built in the 1970s, visited the experimental device at that time, learned about the development history of my country's explosive mechanics, and truly felt the responsibility and sentiment of the older generation of scientists to serve the country scientifically.
Interactive scientific experience Intuitively feel the charm of science

Use science to explain "100 steps through the poplar" and experience "Step on the electric rush" with experiments. A series of interactive experiments such as the superconducting magnetic levitation experimental show and the "Elemental Miracle" chemical reaction show staged on the small square, presenting complex scientific principles to the public in a simple and easy-to-understand way.
Add a special science popularization event related to artificial intelligence
This public science day also added a special science popularization event related to artificial intelligence. In Suzhou, the Artificial Intelligence Biomedical Engineering Science Museum is open for trial, and the public can experience the clinical application scenarios of artificial intelligence in medical imaging diagnosis, surgical planning navigation, non-invasive brain-computer interfaces and other aspects on-site.

Since 2005, one weekend in May every year, research institutes and universities under the Chinese Academy of Sciences will be open to the public, and this year is the 21st year. According to statistics, this public science day is expected to receive nearly 500,000 visitors.
