CCTV News: On May 18, the China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Association issued the "2025 China Satellite Navigation and Position Service Industry Development White Paper". The white paper shows that in 2024, the overall output value of my country's satellite navigation and location service industry with Beidou as its core reached 575.8 billion yuan, an increase of 7.39% year-on-year.

The white paper shows that since 2024, as the country accelerates the promotion of priority application of Beidou and the domestic replacement of Beidou products, my country's satellite navigation and location service industry has continued to maintain a stable growth trend, the structure has continued to be optimized, and the industrial scope has been further expanded. Among them, the core output value of industries including chips, devices, algorithms, software, navigation data, terminal equipment, infrastructure, etc., which are directly related to the research and development and application of satellite navigation technology reached 169.9 billion yuan.

The white paper also shows that with the rapid advancement of the development of the Beidou industry, the number of satellite navigation patents in my country continues to grow. The latest data shows that as of the end of 2024, the cumulative total number of satellite navigation patent applications in my country has exceeded 129,000, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year, continuing to maintain the global leadership.

Beidou achieves in-depth application and breakthroughs in multiple fields

The white paper shows that the Beidou system has achieved in-depth application and innovation breakthroughs in many fields such as transportation, electricity, and mass consumption, greatly improving the ability level of high-precision position services, and gradually forming a good situation of in-depth application and large-scale development.

In the field of transportation, as of the end of 2024, about 13.5 million Beidou terminal equipment (sets) have been promoted and applied in various types of Beidou terminal equipment in terms of road operation vehicles, postal express vehicles, rail transit, etc. In addition, in the fully automated operations of port loading and unloading and yards, the operating efficiency of unmanned card collection cards installed with Beidou navigation equipment has been increased by 25%.

In 2024, the power industry is also continuing to vigorously promote the Beidou application, promoting more than 500,000 sets of application terminals of various types, providing reliable and accurate high-precision position services for intelligent equipment for business applications such as drone self-inspection, substation robot inspection, tower monitoring, etc., and greatly improving the efficiency of power transmission potential hazard detection.

In addition, the white paper shows that the total sales of domestic satellite navigation and positioning terminal products in 2024 exceeded 410 million units, of which the shipments of smartphones with satellite navigation and positioning functions reached 294 million units. The sales of various positioning terminal equipment including the Internet of Things, wearables, on-board, high-precision, etc. exceeded 120 million units per set. With the continuous growth of shipments of satellite navigation equipment, many domestic navigation map suppliers have officially switched to Beidou priority positioning.
