The reporter learned from the Ministry of Water Resources that as of mid-May, the national average precipitation this year was nearly 20% less than the same period last year, and the water inlet of major rivers was nearly 30% less than the same period last year.
In order to make every effort to ensure the water use of grain production and irrigation, the Ministry of Water Resources scientifically dispatched water projects and played the role of the main force of large and medium-sized irrigation areas. The management agencies of various river basins have also strengthened water use allocation. At present, the national spring irrigation area has reached 360 million mu, of which 5,230 large and medium-sized irrigation areas have been started and irrigated 250 million mu have been irrigated. The cumulative water supply of 237 large and medium-sized irrigation areas in the arid areas of Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi and other provinces exceeds 1.7 billion cubic meters, with an irrigation area of 15.7 million mu, and the irrigation water supply is generally guaranteed.
