CCTV News (News Network): The second and third volumes of China's earliest silk book "Bullet Library Silk Book" discovered so far have returned to the motherland after being lost overseas for 79 years.
On May 16, local time in the United States, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage received the second volume of the Bullet Library "Five Elements Order" and the third volume of the "Occurrence and Defensive Occupy" at the Chinese Embassy in the United States. The entire volume of the silk book was illegally lost to the United States in 1946.
The Bullet Library silk book was unearthed in a Chu tomb in Changsha Bullet Library in 1942, hence the name. The silk book is divided into three volumes and a total of more than 900 words. It is the earliest silk book in China discovered so far and the first ancient book in the sense of classics. It has irreplaceable and important value for the study of Chinese ancient characters, ancient documents, and the study of Chinese academic history and intellectual history.
Based on the solid and complete chain of evidence formed by historical research on traceability and circulation, the consensus is to correct historical errors and promote long-term cooperation between China and the United States in the professional field through cultural relics. After multiple rounds of consultations, the United States finally agreed to return the second and third volumes of the bullet library silk book to China. The content of the silk book of the National Treasure Cultural Relics Bullet Library has been basically clarified after years of research by Chinese scholars.
The second volume of the Bullet Library Silk Book "Five Elements Order" of this return is to divide thirty solar terms according to the five elements, describing the four seasons and taboos of spring, summer, autumn and winter; the third volume "Observation and Defence" is the direction of attacking the city, and the day and day taboos in war and military affairs. The State Administration of Cultural Heritage said that it will continue to promote the early return of the first volume of the Bullet Library's silk book, "Four Seasons".
