Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council: The crux of cross-strait tourism issues are not whether the "two sessions" communicate
2025-04-26 source:CCTV.com

CCTV News: According to the official Weibo of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, a reporter asked a question. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced on January 17 that it would resume team tours for residents of Fujian and Shanghai to Taiwan in the near future. The Mainland Affairs Committee of Taiwan stated that it would communicate in accordance with the "small two sessions" of cross-strait tourism. Is it possible that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced that relevant parties on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have communicated through the "Two Sessions" before? Will we communicate through the "Two Sessions" in the future? How is the current progress of resuming group tours for residents from Fujian and Shanghai to Taiwan?

Chen Binhua, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said in response to the inquiry that various work to resume group tours for residents of Fujian and Shanghai to Taiwan are under active preparations. The crux of cross-strait tourism issues lies in the DPP authorities, not in whether to communicate with the "two sessions". After the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in early 2020, the DPP authorities unilaterally banned mainland residents from traveling to Taiwan, banned travel agencies on the island from operating team tours to mainland China, and did not communicate with the mainland through the "Small Two Sessions".

We always adhere to the concept of "one family on both sides of the Taiwan Strait" and continue to work hard and unleash goodwill in promoting exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as cross-strait personnel exchanges and tourism. The key now is whether the DPP authorities can face up to the mainstream public opinion and industry voices in Taiwan, lift various obstructions on cross-strait tourism exchanges as soon as possible, and create favorable conditions for cross-strait personnel exchanges and exchanges and cooperation. All walks of life and people in Taiwan will wait and see.
