By the location of the operating unit, in December, the retail sales of urban consumer goods was 3844.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%; the retail sales of rural consumer goods were 672.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.8%. By retail format, in 2024, the retail sales of convenience stores, professional stores and supermarkets increased by 4.7%, 4.2%, and 2.7% respectively over the previous year; the retail sales of department stores and brand stores decreased by 2.4% and 0.4% respectively.
In 2024, the national online retail sales were 15522.5 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2% over the previous year. Among them, the online retail sales of physical goods was 13081.6 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5%, accounting for 26.8% of the total retail sales of consumer goods; among the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing and use goods increased by 16.0%, 1.5% and 6.3% respectively.
