Huang Zixi is a student at Chengguan Middle School in Qingliu County, Sanming City, Fujian Province. On weekdays, she boards at school, returns to school every Sunday and goes home every Friday. This day was the last day of the semester. At 4 pm, she and other children boarded the bus to Qingliu County Railway Station.
The "school bus" mentioned by the children is the Fuxing C875 train that runs between Fuzhou and Xiamen, Fujian. Once upon a time, children living in Yangyuan Village could only take minibuses to school on the winding mountain road, which took more than an hour to drive. In 2021, the Jianning-Guangfeng Mountain section of the Pumei Railway was opened. The Yangyuan Station in it facilitates travel in the surrounding four townships and makes it easier for children to go to school.
