CCTV News: Xiapu County, Ningde City, Fujian Province is known as the "Hometown of China's Kelp" and is one of the main production areas of my country's Kelp. In the past few days, the local 150,000 acres of kelp have ushered in a bumper harvest. The farmers are busy harvesting the finished kelp and then transporting it to the drying yard to dry, forming a unique "air drying yard".
In the kelp breeding area of Xiapu County, Ningde City, ropes covered with kelp float neatly on the sea surface, like a "sea pastoral". Fishermen were driving boats and busy harvesting kelp on the sea. They used pulleys and booms to pull ropes full of kelp to the boat for cutting. In order to extend the storage time of kelp, the collected kelp must be transported to the drying yard within 3 hours.

Keep breeder Gao Xiaoyun said: "This year I raised 15 to 18 mu, with a yield of more than 300,000 kilograms. Now in good weather, we will take it to the sun. This year I can earn about 300,000 yuan."

Xiapu County is surrounded by mountains and seas. Local farmers skillfully use the height difference of the terrain to hang the kelp from the foot of the mountain to the halfway up the mountain to dry.

Looking down from the air, rows of steel cables are laid down from the hillside, and layers of kelp are pouring like green waterfalls. Compared with traditional ground drying, this three-dimensional hanging method has better ventilation, shortens the drying cycle, reduces the adhesion of mud and sand, keeps the kelp clean and dry, and improves the quality of the kelp.

This year, the Xiapu kelp breeding area is about 150,000 mu, and the fresh kelp output can reach 1.6 million tons.
