A: The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce have made statements regarding the high-level economic and trade talks between China and the United States. I would like to emphasize the following three points: 1. The United States has recently actively conveyed information to China through various channels, hoping to discuss tariffs and other issues. After carefully evaluating the US information, China decided to agree to engage with the US. The talks were held at the request of the US side.
2. China's firmly opposes the United States' abuse of tariffs is consistent, and will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests and international fairness and justice, and safeguard the rules of the WTO and the multilateral trading system.
3. This tariff war was initiated by the United States. If the US really wants to resolve the problem through dialogue and negotiation, it should stop threats and pressure and talk with China on the basis of equality, respect and reciprocity. China will never accept that the US will say one thing and do another, and will not sacrifice its principled position or international fairness and justice to seek to reach any agreement.
