On January 16, the Tibet Autonomous Region held a press conference in Lhasa to report on the latest situations such as the construction of board houses in the 6.8-magnitude earthquake-stricken areas on the date and the investigation of geological disaster hazards, and answer media questions.
■Wei Jun, member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Emergency Management Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region, introduced at the press conference that as of now, the Office of the Autonomous Region Earthquake Relief Command has urgently transported and distributed various types of disaster relief materials such as tents and bedding to the affected people in a timely manner, installed 9,525 furnaces (electric furnaces), distributed more than 40,000 power mattress heaters, transported 759 tons of fuel, distributed more than 259,700 quilts and blankets, and distributed more than 180,000 cotton clothes, and used 560 tons of reserved grain and oil.

At present, 13,000 prefabricated houses have been raised, 6,135 units have been shipped to the disaster area and 5,152 units have been built, and the remaining prefabricated houses are being shipped to the disaster area one after another.

■The natural resources, housing and urban-rural development, fire protection, transportation and other departments of the Tibet Autonomous Region acted quickly and made every effort to investigate safety risks and hidden dangers in the disaster area. As of now, a total of 1,851 hidden dangers of geological disasters have been investigated in 76 townships including Dingri, Dingjie, and Lazi.
Wei Jun, member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Emergency Management Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region, said at the press conference that the housing and urban-rural development department organized 557 experts and technicians from 123 professional institutions to investigate and identify 30,057 rural houses and public buildings.

At the same time, the fire department conducted 1,418 mobile fire prevention patrols at the resettlement points, inspected 2,206 fire hazards, and 1,901 on-site rectification, and the remaining hidden dangers are being rectified. The transportation department inspected 900 bridges, 47 tunnels, 4468 culverts, and patrolled 5,596 kilometers of highways.
The water conservancy department has investigated 14 reservoirs (hydropower stations) and 5 reservoirs have local cracks, and three reservoirs have been operated by taking empty measures.
■As of now, the rescue forces in the disaster area have rescued more than 6.9551 million yuan in cash.
Wei Jun, member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Emergency Management Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region, introduced at the press conference that after preliminary verification, the rescue forces of the People's Liberation Army and the Armed Police Force searched for more than 464,100 yuan in cash, searched for 1,640 valuables, and 29,466 other property; the public security department rescued more than 34,600 yuan in property and more than 2.25 million yuan in cash; the fire department helped the affected people clean up 750 ruins after the earthquake, rescued more than 60,000 yuan in property and more than 3.241 million yuan in cash.


In addition, the forest defense department helped relevant banks in Cuoguo Township to rescue more than 1 million yuan in cash, more than 300 pieces of office facilities and important documents, and transferred 13 precious cultural relics.
