CCTV News: According to the China Meteorological Administration, it is expected that from the night of May 7 to the 9th, there will be a new round of large-scale heavy rainfall in the southern region. There will be heavy to heavy rainstorms and local heavy rainstorms in the eastern part of the southwest region, Jiangnan, South China and other places, accompanied by short-term heavy rainfall, local thunderstorms, strong winds or hail, etc. There will be obvious rainfall and strong convective weather in Inner Mongolia, North China and other places. The Central Meteorological Observatory issued a blue warning for heavy rain and strong convective weather at 18:00 on May 7. After comprehensive analysis and emergency consultation, the China Meteorological Administration launched a third-level emergency response to major meteorological disasters (heavy rain, strong convection) at 18:00 on the 7th.

It is expected that from 20:00 on May 7 to 20:00 on May 8, there will be heavy to heavy rain in some areas such as the western part of the Huanghuai River, most of the Jianghuai River, most of the Jianghan River, northern and western Jiangnan, central and southern Chongqing, eastern Guizhou, northern Guangxi, and northern Guangdong. Among them, there will be heavy torrential rain in the eastern and southern Hubei, northeastern Hunan and other places (100 to 130 mm). Some of the above areas are accompanied by short-term heavy rainfall (maximum hourly rainfall is 20 to 50 mm, locally exceeding 80 mm), and locally, strong convective weather such as thunderstorms and strong winds.

It is expected that from 20:00 on May 7 to 20:00 on May 8, some areas in eastern Inner Mongolia, western Jilin, northwestern Liaoning, northern Hebei, mountainous areas in northwestern Beijing, northwestern Shanxi, southern Anhui, southeast Hubei, southeast Chongqing, northeastern Guizhou, central and northern Hunan and southwestern Hunan, Jiangxi and other places will have thunderstorms and strong winds of level 10 or above in some areas, with the maximum wind force reaching level 11 or above. The possibility of tornadoes in northern Jiangxi and other places will not rule out.

Some areas in eastern Inner Mongolia, southwestern Jilin, western Beijing, northern Hebei, northeastern Shanxi, southern Henan, Anhui, southern and eastern Hubei, northwestern Zhejiang, western Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, eastern Guizhou, southern Chongqing, northern Guangxi, northeastern Guangdong, etc. will have short-term heavy rainfall weather with hourly rainfall of more than 20 mm, among which, hourly rainfall in some areas in southeast Hubei, northern Hunan, northern Jiangxi, etc., is greater than 50 mm, and can reach a maximum of more than 80 mm.

It is expected that the main impact period of strong convection is from tonight to tomorrow during the day.

The Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a yellow meteorological warning for flash floods at 18:00 on May 7:

It is expected that flash floods may occur in some areas of western and southern Anhui, northern Jiangxi, southern Henan, eastern and southern Hubei, northern Hunan and other places (blue warning), among which there is a high possibility of flash floods in southern Anhui, northern Jiangxi, southern Henan, eastern Hubei, and northern Hunan (yellow warning). Other areas may also cause mountain torrents due to local short-term heavy rainfall. All localities are advised to pay attention to real-time monitoring, flood prevention warning, and risk avoidance.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued a meteorological risk warning for geological disasters at 18:00 on May 7:

It is expected that from 20:00 on May 7 to 20:00 on May 8, the meteorological risk of geological disasters will be higher in some areas such as southern and western Anhui, northeastern Jiangxi, northeastern Hubei, northwestern Hunan, central and western Guangdong, eastern and northern Guangxi, and southeastern Guizhou (yellow warning). Governments at all levels and relevant departments shall do a good job in geological disaster prevention in accordance with emergency plans. The public is requested to pay attention to the meteorological risk warning information of geological disasters in a timely manner and go to the geological disaster warning area with caution. For personnel in the yellow warning area, please pay attention to changes in early warning information at any time, pay attention to nearby warning signs, and avoid staying in high-risk areas such as valleys, slopes, steep cliffs (hiddles).

Among them, the average wind speed in some areas of eastern Xinjiang, western Inner Mongolia, northern Qinghai and other places can reach 7 and gusts of 8 to 10; there will be strong winds of 7 to 8 levels and gusts of 9 levels in the southwestern Yellow Sea, western East China Sea, ocean east of Taiwan, and the Bashi Strait.

From 20:00 on May 8 to 20:00 on May 9, there will be 5 to 6 levels and gusts of 7 to 8 in some areas of Xinjiang's southern Xinjiang Basin, central and eastern Inner Mongolia, eastern Qinghai, eastern Northwest, western North China, western Huanghuai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places. Among them, the average wind speed in some areas of central Inner Mongolia, northern Shaanxi and other places can reach level 7 and gusts of 8 to 10; there will be strong winds of 7 to 8 levels and gusts of 9 levels in the southwestern Yellow Sea, western East China Sea, ocean east of Taiwan, and the Bashi Strait.
