Xinhua News Agency, Changsha, May 6 (Reporter Chen Sihan) Recently, my country's first batch of five 9,000-ton gas-film granaries rose from the ground after the inflatable formation of the Changsha direct warehouse of central reserve grain, marking that my country's fourth-generation new granaries have officially entered the practical application stage, and my country has added another layer of guarantee for protecting food security.
The reporter learned in an on-site interview with the Changsha Direct Depot of China National Grain and Oils Reserves that compared with traditional granaries, there are more than ten stories high, "large and round waist, white and fat" air film granaries. The insulation insulation layer, waterproof layer and structural layer are integrated into molding. The insulation and thermal insulation performance are more than three times that of traditional shallow round granaries, and the airtightness reaches more than six times that of national high-standard granaries.

The air-film granary can realize low-temperature grain storage technology through excellent insulation and airtight properties, solving problems such as preservation of grain under high temperature and high humidity in the south. Compared with traditional silo, the energy consumption of grain cooling in the gas-film granary is reduced by 4.33%, the energy consumption of air conditioning and temperature control is reduced by 50%, and the energy consumption of nitrogen gas regulation is significantly reduced. The construction process is highly mechanized, noise reduction and dust reduction, and environmental protection and efficiency. In addition, the gas film granary has better economicality and is comparable to that of the shallow round granary, but the operation and maintenance cost of the entire life cycle is expected to be saved by more than 30%.
Wang Yaowu, deputy general manager of the Changsha Direct Depot of China National Grain and Oils Reserves, introduced that as the first gas membrane granary promotion and application unit in the country, the gas membrane granary is under construction and can store 9,000 tons of grain. It is expected that the five gas membrane granaries will be completed by the end of this year and will be put into use in February next year.
It is understood that China Grain Storage is actively exploring green grain storage technology represented by gas membrane granaries to promote the integration of scientific and technological grain storage, green development and food security.
