"Bicycle foreign trade exports have bottomed out and stabilized, providing strong support for annual output growth." Zheng Xiaoling, spokesperson of the China Bicycle Association, introduced that in 2024, my country exported 47.814 million bicycles, a year-on-year increase of 20.7%; exports were about US$2.664 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%. The export volume of electric bicycles was 4.672 million, an increase of 12% year-on-year; the export volume was about US$2.1 billion, an increase of 6% year-on-year.
Zheng Xiaoling said that driven by the "cycling fever", my country's domestic consumption of mid-to-high-end sports bicycles increased significantly in the first half of 2024, and sales of mid-to-high-end products of independent brands increased by 20% year-on-year. In addition, internationally renowned brands accelerated their market layout in China, set up specialty stores in major cities to expand market sales, and the import volume of competition bicycles increased by 12.5% year-on-year. "The proportion of mid-to-high-end electric bicycles has reached 19.1%, and intelligent and fashionable products greatly improve the user experience." Zheng Xiaoling said.
In August 2024, the Ministry of Commerce and other departments issued an implementation plan to promote the exchange of old electric bicycles. "This is the first time that the national level has introduced a policy of ex-new electric bicycles, further stimulating market vitality, forming a linkage effect with corporate concessions through government subsidies, and accelerating the elimination of old vehicles and non-standard vehicles." Zheng Xiaoling said.
