CCTV News: According to the Ministry of Commerce website, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce answered reporters' questions about the World Trade Dispute on the WTO dispute over the import restrictions on electric vehicles and other vehicles in Türkiye.

A reporter asked: It is reported that China has filed a request to establish an expert group to the WTO regarding the import restrictions on electric vehicles and other vehicles in Türkiye. Can you please introduce the specific situation?

A: Since 2023, Türkiye has repeatedly imposed tariffs on electric vehicles and other vehicles imported from China, including setting up import licenses, which violated WTO rules and undermined Sino-Turkey economic and trade relations. On October 8, 2024, China appealed to the WTO dispute settlement mechanism for relevant Türkiye's measures. In the absence of unsuccessful consultations with Turkey, China submitted a request to the WTO to establish an expert group on January 16, 2025. In the next step, China will promote litigation procedures in accordance with the rules of the WTO and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of domestic industries.
