In 2024, my country's railway passenger and freight volume hit record highs. In terms of passenger transport, the annual passenger volume exceeded 4.3 billion for the first time, and the passenger turnover reached 1579.91 billion passenger kilometers, an increase of 7.3% year-on-year. Among them, the passenger turnover of EMU was 1084.549 billion passenger kilometers, an increase of 10.3% year-on-year.
In terms of freight, from January to December, the national railway freight transmission volume was 5.175 billion tons, an increase of 2.8% year-on-year; the freight turnover volume was 3586.19 billion tons-kilometers. Among them, the national railway freight transport volume was 3.985 billion tons, an increase of 1.9% year-on-year; the national railway freight turnover was 3258.063 billion tons-kilometers.
From January to December, the national railway fixed asset investment reached 850.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.3%, 3113.4 kilometers of new railway lines were put into production, 2687.2 kilometers of railway double-tracks were put into production, and 3935.8 kilometers of electrified railways were put into production, and the construction of a modern railway infrastructure system was continued to be promoted.
