During the May Day holiday, a large number of Hong Kong and Macao residents "going north" to travel and consume, visit relatives and friends through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and experience the festive atmosphere in the mainland. According to statistics from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Border Inspection Station of Zhuhai Border Inspection Station, on May 4, the number of vehicles entering and leaving the country exceeded 27,000 for the first time, of which 26,000 were small passenger cars, and the number of "Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge" exceeded 15,000. All three data broke the highest historical record of the port.
The May Day holiday coincides with the weekend festival of Hong Kong and Macao. There is a strong demand for Hong Kong and Macao residents to drive themselves to "go north", which has promoted the continued increase in traffic flow in and out of ports. Data shows that from May 1 to May 4, the border inspection station of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge inspected a total of more than 64,000 vehicles, an increase of about 60% year-on-year. Especially in terms of "Hong Kong and vehicles heading north", the average number of entry and exit per day is nearly 12,000 vehicles, becoming the main factor driving the growth of port traffic.
According to the person in charge of the border inspection station of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, on May 4, the traffic flow of "northward" maintained a high level. In addition, the previous concentrated return of inbound vehicles, the peaks of the port's entry and exit were superimposed, and the overall characteristics of "one big and three more" are "large instantaneous traffic flow, many single license plates of Hong Kong and Macao, many travel for the whole family, and many elderly and children".
