In order to cope with the surge in passenger flow during the May Day holiday, intercity railways and subways in many places have taken dual measures to improve capacity and strengthen service, and have made every effort to ensure smooth travel for passengers.

According to the Gusu Evening News, on May 2, the passenger flow of Suzhou Metro reached 3.3613 million, an increase of 14.73% year-on-year, second only to the historical record of 3.47 million on New Year's Eve at the end of last year, setting a new record for the highest May Day holiday in history. Among them, the passenger flow of Line 6 of the "Most Beautiful Garden Line" rose strongly, soaring to 350,000, breaking the historical record of single-day passenger flow for a single line.

In order to effectively deal with the large passenger flow during the holidays, Suzhou Metro has made comprehensive adjustments to the operation of the line network. From May 1 to 3, the online network operation service hours will be extended by about 75 minutes compared with regular working days (Monday to Thursday); from May 4 to 5, the maximum will be extended by about 45 minutes. The minimum driving intervals for peaks of each line are also adjusted accordingly, such as Line 1 2 minutes and 35 seconds, Line 2 4 minutes, Line 4 4 ​​minutes, etc. By increasing the frequency of departure, transportation efficiency can be improved and passenger flow can be quickly evacuated.

According to the Guangzhou Daily, after Guangdong's intercity railway set a record of single-day passenger flow with 225,900 passengers on April 30, the travel boom on the first day of the May Day holiday reached a new high. On May 1, the single-day passenger flow of the four intercity railways, Guangzhou Zhao, Guanghui, Guangqing and Guangzhou East Ring Road, reached 239,200, an increase of 5.84% from the previous day's peak, breaking the historical record since its opening and operation for two consecutive days, intuitively highlighting the strong travel demand during the May Day holiday and the continuous improvement of intercity railway transportation service capabilities in the Greater Bay Area.

On the same day, four intercity railways organized backup EMUs to diversion passenger flow based on real-time passenger flow monitoring. On the basis of 299 passenger trains, a total of 12 trains were added, with a total of 311 trains. The additional train adopts the operation mode of "stop stops as the main and stops as the auxiliary stops in large stations" to maximize the passenger flow needs and effectively improve transportation efficiency to meet the diversified travel needs of passengers. At the same time, the route operation service time will be extended. On April 30 and May 1 and 5, the last bus "stop" from Guanghui Intercity Panyu to Xiaojinkou will be extended from 21:21 to 22:56 to better meet the night travel needs of passengers and further improve service quality.

According to the Fuzhou Evening News, from Fuzhou Railway Station, on May 1, Fuzhou Station sent 134,942 passengers and Fuzhou South Station sent 89,604 passengers. The two stations sent a total of 224,546 passengers, an increase of 8.01% over the same period last year, setting a new record for the station's single-day historical record. Although the passenger flow decreased on the 2nd, Fuzhou Railway Station still sent 170,000 passengers, and the overall passenger flow remained at a high level. In terms of starting trains, Fuzhou Railway Station dynamically implemented the "one-day map" during the May Day period, and improved transportation capacity by adding trains, reconnecting and marshalling, and peak line encryption. In terms of equipment guarantee, Fuzhou Railway Station has opened a total of 13 manual ticketing windows, 96 self-selling self-pickup machines, 58 real-name verification ports, 19 security inspection instruments, and 292 self-service and semi-self-service ticket gates. At the same time, the station also set up a convenient mailing cabinet at the security inspection entrance.
