Pivot Data China Space Station's eighth batch of space science experiments "full of fruitful results" and fruit fly achieves "four generations living together"

CCTV News: At 13:08 on April 30, the return capsule of the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft successfully landed at the Dongfeng landing site. Astronauts Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze were in good health, and the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft mission was a complete success.

At 14:02, the three astronauts left the cabin safely and smoothly. Cai Xuzhe's journey of returning to the "Heaven Palace" to realize his dream ended perfectly, becoming the Chinese astronaut who currently performs the most missions outside the cabin. The first flight of two post-90s astronauts Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze was successfully completed.

The eighth batch of experimental samples of China Space Station returned to delivery scientists

The eighth batch of space science experimental samples of China Space Station have also returned to Earth with the Shenzhou 19 crew. What space experimental samples are returned this time? After coming back, what follow-up studies will be carried out? Let’s see the latest reports sent by a reporter from the Central Taiwan Station on the evening of April 30.

At this moment, the Center for Space Applications of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is conducting a handover ceremony for space science experimental samples. The scientific experimental samples that were descending with the Shenzhou 19 spacecraft involved 25 experimental projects in multiple fields such as space life sciences, materials science, and new technologies, with a total weight of about 37.25 kilograms.

The experimental samples delivered on-site are mainly life science experimental samples. Due to the special requirements of biological activity, these samples are also transported here from the landing site as soon as possible, including osteocytes and osteoblasts, human bronchial epithelial cells, early human and animal embryos, protein samples and fruit flies, etc. It is the most types of biological samples downward in the application and development stage of the space station. As the overall unit of scientific experiments, the Space Application Center will deliver these precious "space messengers" to various research teams for scientists to conduct further ground research.

Among these "space messengers", there is a very special and highly concerned fruit fly that is bred in space this time and realizes the "four generations of people living together". Following these fruit flies in space on the Tianzhou-8 cargo spacecraft, the submagnetic-microgravity experiment was carried out on the space station, which means seeing how the fruit flies will breed and grow under conditions like the moon and Mars with almost no magnetic field and no gravity? It is in such an environment that these tenacious little flying insects have been bred for three generations. To be a joke, it can be said that "four generations live together" was realized on the Chinese Space Station.

When asked by reporters what the significance of the fruit fly submagnetism-microgravity experiment is? Li Yan, a researcher at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, said: "Because humans may leave the earth and go to space in the future, such as the moon, Mars, and interstellar space, all belong to an environment without gravity and with extremely low magnetic field. In such an environment, can organisms survive? Can they reproduce? Can brain function normally produce normal behavior patterns? These are unknown. So through such preliminary research, we can understand the relevant situation in advance and discover what mechanism changes have occurred."

It is understood that this downward material experimental samples will be transported back to Beijing with the return capsule in the future, including 22 types of 4 categories, including high-strength tough steel and lunar soil reinforcement materials. We also look forward to scientists' follow-up research on the ground to achieve important results, providing important theoretical foundations and technical support for future deep space exploration and human space activities.
