The May Day holiday is approaching, and the flow of people and vehicles at Hengqin Port is high. According to statistics from the Hengqin Border Inspection Station of Zhuhai Border Inspection General Station, on April 30, 2025, the daily traffic volume of Hengqin Port exceeded 10,000 for the first time, setting a record for the highest single-day traffic volume since the establishment of Hengqin Port. This is also the 7th time since this year, breaking through a historical high. At the same time, since the beginning of this year, as of 24:00 on April 30, 2025, the number of vehicles cleared by Hengqin Port has exceeded 1 million, an increase of 43.2% year-on-year, breaking the fastest record of the number of traffic volume exceeding one million since the opening of the port, 49 days earlier than in 2024.

In 2024, Hengqin Port successively opened 30 "joint one-stop" passenger and freight inspection channels and personnel inspection and delivery halls. The full completion of two "hard connect" infrastructure has greatly improved the convenience of passengers clearance for driving and stimulated the driving customs clearance needs of Macau residents. Since last year, vehicles entering and leaving the country through Hengqin Port have maintained a growth trend. According to statistics from Hengqin Border Inspection Station, the average daily clearance vehicle was 6,500 last year. Since this year, the average daily clearance vehicle at Hengqin Port has exceeded 8,300. During weekends, holidays and other times, it has become the norm for a single day to exceed 9,000 vehicles.

With the improvement of customs clearance convenience, and also promoting the need for Macau residents to settle, work and start businesses in Hengqin, Hengqin’s “Macao” content is becoming more and more sufficient. It is understood that as of now, there are more than 26,000 Macau residents working in the cooperation zone, and there are more than 6,900 Australian-funded enterprises registered in Hengqin.
