Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 1 (Reporter Zhang Quan) The reporter learned from the Center for Space Application Engineering and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on May 1 that the eighth batch of space science experimental samples of the Chinese Space Station successfully returned to Earth with the return capsule of the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft on April 30.

According to reports, the scientific experimental samples returned this time involve 25 experimental projects in the fields of space life sciences, space materials science, etc., with a total weight of about 37.25 kg. Among them, the life science experimental samples have arrived in Beijing and delivered to scientists. The materials and other scientific experimental samples will be transported back to Beijing with the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft return capsule.

The life science experimental samples returned this time mainly include 20 categories, including human induced pluripotent stem cells, human bronchial epithelial cells, fruit fly, protein samples, etc. Subsequently, scientists will conduct sample morphological detection, cell lineage analysis, structural analysis, and multiomic analysis research. The relevant results will provide data and theoretical support for human health protection in space and ground.

The materials scientific experimental samples returned to the earth this time mainly include tungsten-based ultra-high temperature alloys, high-strength steels, nonlinear optical crystals, lunar soil reinforcement materials, gel composite lubricating materials, etc. In the future, scientists will conduct tests and analysis of sample tissue morphology, chemical composition, etc., and the relevant results will provide important theoretical support for future deep space exploration, human space activities, etc.
