Personnel exchanges and cross-border transportation in Xinjiang in 2024 broke records

The reporter recently learned from the Xinjiang Entry and Exit Border Inspection General Station that in 2024, the number of personnel exchanges and cross-border transportation at various ports in Xinjiang continued to grow, constantly breaking historical records. The total number of service and guaranteed 3.251 million inbound and outbound personnel and 1.362 million vehicles/train/shelf of transportation, an increase of 84.93% and 56% year-on-year compared with 2023. There were 626,000 foreigners who were allowed to enter the country through ports across the region, an increase of 390% over 2023.

According to reports, since 2024, the passenger and cargo flows at ports such as Urumqi, Horgos, Alashankou, Turgat, and Ilkishtan have successively broken through historical peaks, and the customs clearance of inbound and outbound trains through various ports in Xinjiang accounted for 40% of the national railway ports, ranking first in the country. The China-Kazakhsky Horgos International Border Cooperation Center has 7.59 million visitors in and out of the park, an increase of 81% year-on-year, and 24 international passenger routes have been added to the entire region.

The Xinjiang Entry-Exit Border Inspection General Station continues to deepen immigration management reform and policy and system innovation, creating an efficient and smooth customs clearance environment for Chinese and foreign tourists and import and export trade exchanges. Focus on the rising passenger and freight clearance flow of each port, scientifically optimize the service model, increase the deployment of police on duty on the front line, implement appointment customs clearance and delayed customs clearance, open the "Belt and Road" dedicated channels, as well as the "green channel" of agricultural and sideline products and daily necessities and the "life channel" of emergency relief, etc., to ensure that the ports enter and exit large and fast in and out. Comprehensively improve the level of management services, and continue to deepen the role of immigration management in ensuring efficient customs clearance of new energy commercial vehicles and the introduction of high-level foreign talents.
