Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, January 3 (Reporter Wang Haoming) The reporter learned from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Border Inspection Station of the Zhuhai Border Inspection Station on the 3rd that in 2024, the inbound and outbound passenger flow and traffic flow through the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge exceeded 27 million passengers and 5.55 million vehicles, respectively, an increase of 72% and 71% year-on-year, both setting record highs.
Data shows that in 2024, more than 16.2 million Hong Kong and Macao passengers entering and leaving the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, an increase of 63% year-on-year, accounting for nearly 60% of the total passenger flow at the port. The peak passenger flow on weekends and holidays occurred frequently. The daily passenger flow at the port exceeded 100,000 and reached 50 days, which is 10 times that of 2023. Among them, on February 13, 2024, the port's daily passenger flow reached 144,000, setting a record for the highest single-day since the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Hong Kong and Macao residents are keen on "going north" to consume, while mainland residents are still in a hurry to "going south". With the continuous expansion of the mainland's "personal travel" cities to Hong Kong and Macao, the "one journey, multiple stations" Greater Bay Area tourism products built around the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge have been popular. In 2024, more than 5.24 million mainland tourists traveling between the Hong Kong and Macao Bridge with Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, an increase of 55% year-on-year. With the implementation of the policy of "one visa, multiple trips" and "one trip per week" for tourism to Hong Kong and Macao, the number of mainland tourists traveling across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is expected to increase further.
In 2024, the annual traffic volume exceeded 5 million vehicles for the first time since the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was officially opened. The convenience brought by the "Hong Kong car north" and "Hong Kong car north" policies are becoming more and more popular. The number of Hong Kong and Macao single-licensed vehicles inspected by the border inspection station of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge exceeded 3 million, accounting for 55% of the total port traffic.
The relevant person in charge of the border inspection station of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge introduced that in order to ensure the safety and smooth customs clearance of inbound and outbound personnel, the station has upgraded and transformed the "one-stop" system to promote the construction of "cargo and passenger" channels and improve traffic efficiency; continue to deepen the law enforcement liaison and coordination mechanism of the ports in Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macao, and realize early warning and guidance of passenger flow during holidays; in response to the increase in the number of elderly people and children on the vehicle, the mobile inspection model is innovatively used to improve the port customs clearance experience.
