Jiangxi Qianshan Liansi Paper is one of the outstanding representatives of Chinese handmade bamboo paper. Its texture is white, delicate and dense, insect-proof and heat-resistant. It was often used in the production of valuable books, texts and fans in ancient times. In 2006, the production skills of Qianshan Liansi paper were included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

"Slice paper is not easy to get, and it is caught by 72 steps", which means that the production of four papers requires 72 processes such as bamboo silk paper making, paper bleaching, and pulp making. It took a year to make it. Each piece of paper is not easy to get. Nowadays, most processes can only be operated manually, without physical and chemical indicators, and are all controlled by manual experience.

The four papers are made of tender bamboo as the main raw materials and are distributed in the southern and northern foothills of the Wuyi Mountains. They are generally cut around before and after the beginning of summer. At this time, the tender bamboo has not yet grown leaves and is rich in pulp. Refining bamboo materials is the primary step in making four-piece paper, and it must go through procedures such as cutting bamboo, drying in shade, fermenting, peeling and hanging bamboo silk.

Natural bleaching is one of the important links in making four papers. The bamboo silk material made through steaming and other processes is placed on the mountain for natural bleaching, and the fiber pigment in the bamboo silk is decomposed.

Zhang Shikang, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage, introduced that it takes more than half a year to make raw materials in the early stage of Liansi paper, and we cannot be rushing to achieve success. If mechanized means are used instead of the early stage of raw materials, the life of the paper will be greatly reduced.

Chengshan Liansi Papermaking Skills Apprentice Shen Si introduced that it is incomparable to mechanical paper and chemical paper. Because of the characteristics of Liansi Paper making, it has been stored for a very long time and is known as "a thousand years of life paper". So, there is an extraordinary value in the collection field.

Xiansi paper is also called "Xianshi paper". Because it is insect-proof and heat-resistant, and does not change color for a long time, it likes to use it in the past precious books, inscriptions, calligraphy and paintings, and fan pages.
