The reporter learned from the cultural and tourism department of Luoping County, Yunnan Province that since the rapeseed flowering period entered in February this year, Luoping County has received a total of 1.7 million tourists, an increase of 12% year-on-year; tourism spending was nearly 1.76 billion yuan, an increase of 11% year-on-year.

While tourists enjoying rapeseed flowers, they also drive local catering, accommodation and other related consumption in Luoping.

With the arrival of tourists from all directions, major restaurants and hotels are very popular. Many restaurants have launched special rapeseed delicacies, such as fried rapeseed flowers, rapeseed cakes, cold rapeseed flowers, fried rapeseed bacon, etc., which are very popular among tourists. In addition to domestic tourists, the tourism products of "flowers and food" have also attracted many foreigners.

Although the "flower appreciation economy" is limited by seasonality, rapeseed, as a cash crop, canola can also expand its income by pressing oil after the flower appreciation season. In recent years, the local area has relied on its advantages in rapeseed flower sea and natural landscapes to create a "Cloud Flower Country" rural revitalization demonstration park. Since its trial operation in 2022, it has attracted more than 600,000 tourists and has accumulated operating income of more than 18 million yuan. In addition, the total rapeseed output in Luoping County can reach 146,900 tons, and the agricultural output value is nearly 800 million yuan.
