CCTV News: On March 19, the frozen river section of the Inner Mongolia main stream of the Yellow River was opened, marking the smooth end of the Yellow River ice prevention work in 2024-2025. No major dangerous disasters occurred during the ice flood season.

The National Flood Control Office and the Ministry of Emergency Management attach great importance to the work of preventing the Yellow River. The State Flood Control Office issued a notice in advance to arrange and deploy the work of ice prevention in 2024-2025, and promptly organized joint consultations between meteorological and water conservancy departments, continuously dispatched key provinces such as Inner Mongolia, and supervised the implementation of detailed measures for ice prevention; successively sent the State Flood Control Joint Working Group and two State Flood Control Office working groups to the front line to assist and guide the work of ice prevention in northern rivers; during the opening period, the State Flood Control General Office launched a level 4 emergency response to Inner Mongolia based on the situation of ice prevention, and in conjunction with the State Food and Reserve Bureau to urgently allocate flood prevention and rescue container bags, lead wire mesh and other central emergency rescue and disaster relief materials to Inner Mongolia. The Ministry of Water Resources has launched a Level 4 emergency response to flood defense, using satellite remote sensing and drone aerial photography and other means to encrypt the greenwater monitoring and forecast. The Yellow River Flood Control Headquarters launched a four-level emergency response to the Yellow River Flood Control level, scientifically dispatched key reservoirs, and timely launched the Hetao Irrigation Area and Wuliangsuhai, Wulanbuhe and Hangjinnur emergency flood dividing and separation, creating favorable conditions for the stable opening of the river.

Relevant provinces conscientiously implement the work deployment of the National Flood Control General Office and do their best to prevent the Yellow River from ice. The main responsible persons of the Party Committee and Government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have made arrangements and deployments on many occasions. The Autonomous Region Flood Control Headquarters set up a front-line command center for the quarantine in Baotou City. During the critical period of opening the river, more than 400 professional personnel and group defense teams were organized to patrol along the river every day, more than 300 rescue teams of front-end construction enterprises and professional rescue teams in water areas, and formed an expert database for flood prevention emergency response to make full preparations for emergency rescue. The defense indicators of Ningxia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Shandong and other provinces held a work meeting on ice prevention in a timely manner, revised and improved the prevention plan, strengthened consultation and judgment, encrypted the frequency of measurement and inspection, organized risk and hidden danger investigation, implemented emergency rescue teams and materials in advance, and made every effort to ensure the safety of the prevention of the Yellow River.
