The National Health Insurance Administration, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the National Health Commission, and the National Medical Products Administration issued a notice on strengthening the collection and application of drug traceability codes in the fields of medical insurance and work-related injury insurance.
It proposes that relying on the national unified medical insurance information platform and the drug traceability system for drug marketing authorization holders, we will actively promote the full process, full collection and full scenario application of drug traceability codes in the fields of medical insurance and work-related injury insurance, and gradually achieve full coverage of drug traceability code collection and application of all pharmaceutical institutions.
From January 1, 2026, all pharmaceutical institutions must collect and upload drug traceability codes in full. Retail pharmacies must display drug traceability information on customer purchase receipts. Work-related injury insurance medical service agreement institutions and work-related injury rehabilitation agreement institutions should accelerate the collection and application of drug traceability codes.
