On January 4, the National Film Directors' Meeting was held in Beijing. The meeting was guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implemented the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, deeply studied and practiced Xi Jinping's cultural thoughts, implemented the spirit of the National Propaganda Ministers' Meeting, summarized the work, analyzed the situation, and arranged and deployed the key work of films in 2025. Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the China Central Radio and Television Station, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting pointed out that 2024 is an important year for in-depth study and practice of Xi Jinping's cultural thoughts. Under the high attention and strong leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Party Central Committee, the film front focuses on the center, serves the overall situation, takes responsibility and overcomes difficulties, and has achieved hard-won results.

The meeting emphasized that 2025 is the final year for achieving the goals and tasks of the film's "14th Five-Year Plan". The film front must anchor the strategic goal of building a strong cultural country and a strong film country, firmly believe in practicing hard, learning and being able to write literature, focus on launching more masterpieces of film, further deepen reforms in the film field, actively create a healthy and active film ecosystem, and promote the high-quality development of films in 2025 to take more solid steps.

The meeting required that we should thoroughly study, practice Xi Jinping's cultural thoughts, carry out our work creatively, focus on creation and market, and strive to promote the high-quality development of films. We must focus on the central link of creating and producing excellent works, and continuously launch fine films that show the Chinese spirit, reflect the weather of the times, and are deeply loved by the people. We must unswervingly deepen the reform of the film field, stimulate innovation and creativity, and promote the great prosperity and development of the film industry. We must innovate in the development of film "going out", expand international exchanges and cooperation in films, and enhance the international competitiveness and influence of Chinese films. We must uphold and strengthen the Party’s overall leadership, effectively improve the “three forces” of politics and work capabilities, further promote the strengthening of film work in the new era, and write a new chapter in the development of Chinese films.

At the meeting, the Propaganda Departments of the Party Committees of Shanghai, Sichuan, Jiangsu and Xiamen, and responsible persons from China Film Group and Western Film Group made exchange speeches.

The meeting was chaired by Mao Yu, deputy director of the Film Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, who was responsible for daily work. Responsible persons in charge of film work in the propaganda of the Party Committees of various provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and some cities, relevant responsible persons in charge of film work, central state organs and relevant military departments, relevant people's organizations, some directly affiliated institutions of the State Council and state-owned film production units, members of the Film Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department and members of the team of directly affiliated film units attended the meeting.
