CCTV reporters from the Central Station learned that at around 8:40 today, a fire broke out in a vegetable market in Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. After receiving the alarm, the local fire department quickly went to the scene to extinguish the fire. At 10:10, the open fire was put out on the scene. At 12:50, the on-site rescue work ended. The accident caused 8 deaths and 15 injuries. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment and are currently in danger of life.
Investigation on the cause of the accident and aftermath work are being carried out further.
