Since the beginning of this year, my country's comprehensive artificial intelligence strength has reached a new level, and various localities have actively explored the deep integration of artificial intelligence with various industries to empower industrial upgrading and high-quality economic development.
At the beginning of this year, my country's artificial intelligence field has made major breakthroughs one after another. The domestic big model DeepSeek is popular all over the world with its open source model and cost advantages, becoming the fastest application to exceed 30 million daily active users so far. Hundreds of enterprises from all walks of life have been connected, and intelligent transformation has swept the whole country. The first self-developed Wanka cluster was successfully lit up, and the super-large-scale parallel computing power has increased significantly.
General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to scientific and technological innovation and the development of artificial intelligence. In 2018, the 9th collective study of the 19th Central Political Bureau focused on the "current status and trends of artificial intelligence development" for the first time. The General Secretary deeply analyzed the new characteristics of artificial intelligence and pointed out that artificial intelligence is a strategic technology leading this round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, and has a strong "leader" effect with strong spillover and driving force. Accelerating the development of a new generation of artificial intelligence is a strategic issue that concerns whether my country can seize the opportunities of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation.
Since then, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made many important instructions to point out the direction for the development of the artificial intelligence industry. In 2024, the General Secretary once again emphasized that we should actively promote the deep integration of the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence and the real economy, cultivate and strengthen the intelligent industry, accelerate the development of new quality productivity, and provide new impetus for high-quality development. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China clearly regarded artificial intelligence as a strategic industry, promoted the digital transformation of various industries, and injected new impetus into high-quality economic development.
A series of top-level designs have pushed my country's artificial intelligence industry into the fast lane: artificial intelligence chips have made breakthroughs one after another, and the hardware base has been continuously consolidated; large-scale products have been rapidly popularized, and the innovation ecology has been continuously improved; various artificial intelligence applications have developed in depth. As of the end of 2024, a total of 302 generative artificial intelligence services in my country have been registered with the National Cyberspace Administration of China, with the scale of the core artificial intelligence industry of nearly 600 billion yuan.
The head geese lead the way, and the geese fly together. Since the beginning of this year, the "leader" effect of artificial intelligence has continuously promoted the in-depth transformation and upgrading of the industry. In the battery production line in Fujian, the algorithm pushes the yield rate to 99.9%. In the old oilfield base in Shaanxi, 19 industrial intelligent bodies were built in large-scale model technology, which increased the efficiency of each link by nearly 30%. In Antarctica, newly launched AI intelligent robots can carry 70 kilograms of weight in extreme environments of minus 60℃ for scientific research and detection. Innovation is surging, new industries and new models are emerging at an accelerated pace, and new economic growth points are constantly forming.
This year, the country will introduce measures to focus on the three categories of core foundations of artificial intelligence, intelligent products, public support, and 18 core directions to organize the "opening of the list and taking charge" of the innovation tasks of the artificial intelligence industry; accelerate ecological cultivation, and support 11 places including Shanghai and Beijing to build national artificial intelligence innovation application pilot zones; at the same time, carry out the "Artificial Intelligence +" action in depth, give full play to the advantages of my country's industrial system, promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and manufacturing, and continuously provide new impetus for high-quality economic development.
