The largest cross-sea bridge in the Northeast region has been built in Dalian, Liaoning.

According to the Dalian Daily, on February 24, the launch ceremony of the Dalian Mayor Changhai Cross-Sea Bridge project and the mobilization meeting for the start of key projects in the first quarter of the city were held at the Changhai Bridge landing site in Pikou Street, Pulandian District. Hao Peng, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Congress Standing Committee, attended and announced the launch of the Dalian Mayor's Changhai Cross-Sea Bridge project.

The Dalian Mayor Changhai Cross-Sea Bridge Project is the first cross-sea bridge in the Northeast region to adopt a new mechanism for government-social capital cooperation. The China Construction Co., Ltd. won the bid and is responsible for overall investment, construction and operation. The project is 25.5 kilometers long, including 6.5 kilometers of land section and 19 kilometers of sea section. The starting point is located on the north side of Caiyuan Village, Dachangshan Island, Changhai County, and the end point is at the Heda Expressway Pikou Toll Station. The entire line uses modern construction technology and green and low-carbon new technologies, adopts first-class highway technical standards, and four lanes in both directions, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, with a total investment of 7.9 billion yuan. It is planned to be completed and opened to traffic in 2029.

Changhai County is located in the northern waters of the Yellow Sea on the east side of the Liaodong Peninsula, facing the Korean Peninsula in the east, opposite the Miaodao Islands in Shandong to the southwest, and adjacent to the urban area of ​​Dalian City, Pulandian and Zhuanghe City in the west and north. It is the closest area to Japan and South Korea in the northeast. The county consists of 195 islands (including 18 inhabited islands), which are collectively called the Changshan Islands. The total number of registered households in the county is 24,929 and the population is 66,113.

It is the largest land island highway project under construction in my country. The news said that due to various natural factors such as tides, strong winds, and heavy fog, sea transportation in Changhai area cannot be opened for more than 60 days a year, and it cannot be opened for 24-hour all-weather during the navigation period, which restricts the travel and economic and social development of island residents, especially has a great impact on the island's medical and health care, emergency rescue and other work. After the completion of the Changhai Bridge, it will end the traffic dilemma in Changhai County, break the existing land transportation barrier, enhance the public service capabilities of Changhai County, and achieve equalization of public services.

The "Changhai Release" also said that after the bridge is completed, Changhai County will end its external waterway dependence, build a "all-weather lifeline", and provide transportation infrastructure support for island construction.
