CCTV News: According to the website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, during the 2025 Spring Festival travel rush (January 14-February 22), the national civil aviation transported a total of 90.2 million passengers, an average of 2.255 million passengers per day, an increase of 7.4% over the same period of the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush, and a total of 739,000 flights were guaranteed, with an average of 18,500 flights per day, an increase of 8.3% over the same period of the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush, and the number of passengers reached a record high. As a result of multiple positive factors, passenger transportation demand during the Spring Festival travel rush has increased significantly compared with previous years. Popular domestic routes are concentrated in the three circles of "4+2+N". The routes between the four regions of "Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Rong" are still the main roads for Spring Festival transportation. The two regions of Northeast China and Hainan, as well as "cold-avoidance tours" and "ice and snow tours" destinations such as Urumqi and Kunming are in high demand. The passenger throughput of cultural and tourism cities with strong Chinese traditional Chinese Spring Festival characteristics has increased significantly. At the same time, thanks to the further expansion of China's visa-free "circle of friends", the demand for cross-border travel during the Spring Festival travel rush has also increased significantly, with an average daily international passenger flight (round trip) of 1,921 flights, an increase of 27.1% over the same period of the 2024 Spring Festival travel rush.
The civil aviation Spring Festival travel rush has been upgraded from the past "how many days" to "the whole month of fire". Except for New Year's Eve, the daily passenger transport volume of civil aviation has remained stable at more than 2 million during the Spring Festival travel rush, and the daily passenger transport trend is more stable than in previous years. During the Spring Festival holiday, the civil aviation transported a total of 18.24 million passengers, with an average of 2.28 million passengers per day, setting a record high for the same period during the Spring Festival travel rush. Among them, February 3 is the peak day for passengers to return. Civil aviation transported 2.48 million passengers in a single day, setting a record high in a single day passenger transport volume.
