In the "Cultural China Tour" on February 22, we will see how these units use modern scientific and technological means to help protect, restore and comprehensively utilize ancient books, so that precious ancient books can continue their cultural heritage and regain their vitality.

The Shaanxi Provincial Library Ancient Book Protection Center uses a variety of scientific and technological means to assist in repair detection, paper replenishment and dyeing, and has completed the rescue restoration of the precious ancient book "Integration of Ancient and Modern Books". As the largest and most abundant large-scale book in my country, "Animal and Modern Book Collection" has a total of more than 1,000 volumes and more than 40,000 leaves. It is a milestone masterpiece of Chinese book history and book history. It is known as the "Chinese Encyclopedia" of ancient times. It is as famous as the "Yongle Encyclopedia" and "Siku Quanshu" in the field of ancient books and documents, and includes astronomy, geography, literature, history, philosophy, economy and politics and other subjects. It comprehensively includes ancient Chinese documents from ancient times to the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and has unique cultural and cultural value.

Due to the age of time, many ancient papers will slowly become harder and brittle, causing defects. Therefore, restoring the paper used in ancient books that year became the key to restoration. The Institute of Chinese Ancient Books Protection of Fudan University restored and copied an ultra-thin repair paper with only 1.6 grams per square meter, which is highly similar to that of the paper printing paper in the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the restoration process, the restorator used repair paper to fill in the damaged parts of the ancient books, and collided with and adhered to the original ancient books, thus completing the restoration of an ancient book.

And digital technology makes ancient books no longer obscure. Recently, the Capital Library’s ancient book digital resource release platform was officially launched. Readers learn about ancient books through the database from "version" and "bounding", and look at the writing style of the same Chinese character in different ancient books. In "Reading Ancient Texts", they convert ancient books into simplified Chinese characters and horizontal versions to read them in real time, and give them sentences to the article. Using AI, naked-eye 3D and other technologies, the Capital Library uses professional historical facts as the production standards to present digital contents of ancient books such as "Peony Pavilion" and "The Art of Heaven" and other ancient books, and captures the profound Chinese art and Chinese wisdom from the vast sea of classics, and presents them to readers in concrete ways.
