"Panda parking space", mini program appointments... cracking the "timed congestion" around campuses. There are great tricks in various places

CCTV News: People's livelihood is a matter, let's focus on how to solve the problem of traffic congestion around the campus. This week, primary and secondary schools across the country have ushered in the "school season", and road traffic flow has increased significantly during morning and evening rush hour. This kind of "timed congestion" around the campus tests the city's traffic pulse and affects thousands of households. In order to alleviate this problem, many cities have adopted measures such as staggered school trips, advocating priority for public transportation, and optimizing transportation organization. Localities have also introduced different measures to alleviate congestion according to their own characteristics.

Xiamen, Fujian: Set up "panda parking space" and open up a new "connection intersection".

Xiamen Music School is located in Wuyuanwan Road, Huli District. There are more than 3,000 teachers and students. The north gate of the school is close to the intersection of Wuyuanwan Road. In the past, during school hours, the vehicles picking up and dropping off children at the school gate and rushing traffic at the surrounding main roads in the morning and evening could easily lead to congestion on the roads around the campus and also bring safety hazards to students' travel. In order to solve this problem, the police station in the jurisdiction, in conjunction with municipal gardens, traffic police and other departments, carried out multiple "micro-renovations" of facilities around the campus, opened five new connections in the green belt on the east side of the school gate, and set up "panda parking spaces" dedicated to picking up and dropping off students' vehicles.

Wuxi, Jiangsu: The mini program "Appointment to pick up babies" becomes "accurate pickup" in advance

Many parents said that the main reason why the car to pick up babies is centralized and long-term parking during school is because parents cannot accurately grasp the students' school information. In Wuxi, Jiangsu, the local traffic management department jointly launched the "Police Academy e-Home" smart pick-up system in collaboration with the education department, trying to build an information bridge with a mini program to allow family members to "accurately pick up their children."

Ms. Shen's child is studying in a junior high school in the old city of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Today she plans to pick up the child home through the smart pick-up system.

After Ms. Shen arrived near the school, she could park her car in the designated "outer parking area". After making an appointment with her mobile phone, the teacher also received the message immediately. When school is over, she can get on the bus and leave.

Zhu Xiaoyang, deputy captain of the Traffic Order Management Brigade of the Traffic Police Detachment of Wuxi Public Security Bureau, introduced that the first thing is to open an outer parking area. By finding a suitable parking place around the school, parents have parking spaces to park. The mini program will automatically assign the "Appointment Pickup Area" according to the parents' driving direction. When the child leaves school, the parents will receive the push information from the backend through the mini program, and parents can drive from the peripheral parking area to the "Appointment Pickup Area" to achieve the process of accurate pick-up and stop-and-go.

At present, the traffic management department is implementing personalized rectification measures in accordance with the principles of "one point and one policy" and "one school and one policy" in accordance with the principles of "one school and one policy"

Jiangxi Jiujiang: Setting up "tidal parking spaces" to alleviate the difficulty of parking around the campus

In addition, in response to some parents' concerns that they cannot find a parking space when picking up their children and drive their cars to wait near the school early, Jiujiang, Jiangxi has introduced the concept of "tidal parking spaces" to alleviate the problem of difficulty in parking around the campus.

The Balihu Campus of Jiujiang Primary School in Jiangxi Province has more than 2,900 students, of which more than one-third need to be picked up by parents, and the total number of parking spaces within 2 kilometers is only about 500.

Tidal parking space, as the name suggests, is to use all the surrounding roads or open spaces that can be used for temporary parking of vehicles during peak hours when centralized pick-up and drop-off of children, and plan space to be used for temporary parking of vehicles. So far, the number of parking spaces available for temporary parking around the school has increased from 500 to more than 1,300. During rush hours in the morning and evening, vehicles that pick up and drop off children can park for 1 hour for free in designated areas. As a result, the phenomenon of parking side by side at the school gate was significantly improved during the school hours.

Beijing: 294 Tongxue buses are opened to alleviate congestion around the campus

In Beijing, in order to alleviate the problem of "timed congestion" around the campus, the first batch of 25 Tongxue buses have been put into trial operation starting from September 1, 2023. As of this week's spring school season, 294 school buses have been opened in Beijing, allowing more children to get on and off directly from the community and school terminals.

Through explorations from various places and the implementation of a series of measures, we have also seen that the traffic jams, chaos and difficulties around the campus have been solved one by one, the road traffic environment has been effectively purified, and the road traffic efficiency has been significantly improved.
