CCTV News: In recent years, Yunnan Province has relied on the opening and operation of the China-Laos Railway and has continuously improved the logistics and transportation system of the China-Laos Railway + the Western Land-Sea New Channel. It once needed to detour thousands of miles to transport aluminum products, fertilizers, metal silicon and other products around the world. Now, through the Western Land-Sea New Channel, it can be directly delivered to South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, Brazil and other countries in a short time.

Taking 0.0045 mm thickness aluminum foil products as an example, generally a roll weighs five or six tons, with a thickness of nearly one meter, and the length after spreading can reach 1.2 million meters. Such products should not only have very firm packaging during transportation, but also avoid damage caused by multiple handling.
In the past, if this company wanted to export products to Thailand, it needed to pass through Shenzhen to transfer, with a transportation cost of more than 900 yuan per ton. Now, by railway to reach Qinzhou Port in Guangxi and Thailand, the cost per ton is only more than 50 yuan, and the time has been reduced from the past month to the fastest arrival of 9 days.

On December 3, 2021, the China-Laos Railway was opened and operated, connecting to the China Railway Network to the north, reaching logistics distribution centers such as Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Chongqing, and radiating to Russia through the China-Europe freight train, reaching Germany, Spain and other countries as far as Germany, Spain. Go south through southern ports to Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore.
On this new channel, the seamless connection between railway containers and sea containers has become a highlight. The goods will be free of losses from the starting point to the end point, and they will be delivered directly to one stop.

With the help of the ever-improving new land-sea channel, in the first three quarters of 2024, the export volume of agricultural products, cross-border e-commerce and processing trade in Yunnan Province increased by 60%. The total import and export volume of Yunnan and the five countries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam reached 78.92 billion yuan, accounting for 93.7% of the import and export value of the ten ASEAN countries.
