While alleviating the pressure on passenger and freight transportation, it has also injected new impetus into the tourism industry and economic development along the route.
The just-opened Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-speed Railway not only extends the business mileage of the Yangtze River Delta Railway to 15,000 kilometers, but also brings more choices for New Year's travel. Starting from January 5, the "Super Ring Line" of the Yangtze River Delta High-speed Railway has been launched in two directions. Jiangsu Shengze, Zhejiang, Huzhou and other places have taken the Yangtze River Delta Ring Line tourism express train, and the tourism circles of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Anhui Provinces and one city have been continuously expanded.
In 2024, the national railway added 3,113 kilometers of operating mileage, including 2,457 kilometers of high-speed rail. The "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network is constantly extending.
By region, the eastern road network is getting denser and denser. From Shanghai to Shanghai and Qingdao to Qingdao, more and more high-speed rails are forming rings across provinces, improving the accessibility and convenience of the road network. In the west, the railway connects scenic spots. After the opening of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway, passengers can take the express train from Chengdu and reach Jiuzhaigou in as fast as more than 3 hours, which greatly shortens the passage time and improves travel efficiency. In the north, the opening of the Jining-Datong-Yuanping high-speed railway not only narrowed the time and space distance between the two provinces and regions of Shanxi and Mongolia, but also achieved seamless connection between the Northwest Road Network and the Central Plains Mi-shaped high-speed railway network.
In 2025, the national railway operating mileage is expected to be extended by about 2,600 kilometers.
