CCTV News: According to the website of the Ministry of Public Security, on January 7, after a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet, the Ministry of Public Security immediately activated the emergency mechanism and dispatched and deployed the Tibetan public security organs to do their best to carry out emergency rescue, traffic diversion, public security maintenance and other work to effectively ensure the safety of people's lives and property and maintain the stability of the overall social situation.

After the earthquake, the Tibetan public security organs immediately activated emergency plans and joint duty of relevant police types, timely studied rescue work measures, dispatched and followed up the progress of disaster relief work, ensured that all earthquake relief work was carried out efficiently and orderly, and ensure that all parties' rescue forces, equipment and materials arrived at the disaster area safely and smoothly. As of noon on the 7th, the public security organs of Shigatse City, Dingri County and surrounding counties and districts have successively sent more than 460 police officers to the scene to carry out emergency rescue, emergency response, and public security patrol and prevention.
