Joint Statement of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on the Future-oriented, people-centered, strengthening comprehensive strategic partnerships, and promoting a more stable, prosperous and sustainable community of shared future for China and Thailand

(Beijing, February 8, 2025)

1. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand and the "Golden 50 Years of China-Thailand Friendship", at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Prime Minister Petton Chinnava paid an official visit to China from February 5 to 8, 2025. This is the first high-level exchange between the two countries this year.

2. During the visit, President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China met with Premier Peitongtan, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji met with Premier Peitongtan respectively. Premier Pettontan also went to Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province to attend the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games.

3. Both sides reiterate that China and Thailand are good neighbors, good relatives and good partners who respect each other, help each other, understand each other, and have a consistent vision. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on July 1, 1975 and the establishment of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in 2012, the two sides have continuously deepened mutual trust, carried out mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthened cultural exchanges, bringing tangible benefits to the people of the two countries and making contributions to the development and stability of the two countries and regions. The two sides reaffirmed the consensus reached by President Xi Jinping during his historic visit to Thailand in 2022 on building a more stable, prosperous and sustainable community of shared future between China and Thailand, and agreed to further deepen bilateral cooperation.

4. The 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand is an important milestone in the relationship between the two countries. The two sides will maintain a good development momentum of bilateral relations, face the future and focus on the people, strengthen a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and effectively respond to traditional and emerging challenges. The two sides will continue to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges and strengthen exchanges between the central and local governments, legislative bodies and other institutions. The two sides will jointly hold a series of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand in 2025 to deepen cultural exchanges and mutual learning, and make "China and Thailand one family" more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
