CCTV.com News: According to the WeChat official account of the China Earthquake Administration, China Earthquake Network officially determined that at 9:5 on January 7, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet (28.50 degrees north latitude and 87.45 degrees east longitude), with a depth of 10 kilometers. The average altitude within 10 kilometers of the epicenter is about 4471 meters.

After the earthquake, the China Earthquake Administration quickly launched a magnitude-second emergency service response. The Ministry of Emergency Management immediately made arrangements, and the China Earthquake Administration immediately contacted the China Earthquake Network Center and the Tibet Autonomous Region Earthquake Bureau as soon as possible to listen to the earthquake situation report, and required relevant units to conduct joint consultations, strengthen earthquake situation monitoring and tracking and post-earth trend analysis, and report relevant situations in a timely manner. According to the deployment, the working group rushed to the earthquake zone to guide local governments in carrying out emergency response work. The Tibet Autonomous Region Earthquake Bureau has sent 26 on-site working teams to rush to the earthquake zone to assist local governments in carrying out emergency work.
