CCTV News (News Network): The latest customs data shows that the scale of goods trade in the Yangtze River Delta region hit a record high in 2024. As the "ballast stone" of China's foreign trade, the Yangtze River Delta region once again showed strong economic vitality and openness.

According to Shanghai Customs statistics, in 2024, the total import and export value of the Yangtze River Delta region was 16.01 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year, accounting for 36.5% of the national total import and export value, an increase of again from 36.3% in 2023. The contribution of the Yangtze River Delta region to the growth of national foreign trade is becoming increasingly significant.

In 2024, high-end equipment exports in the Yangtze River Delta region were 261.16 billion yuan, accounting for more than half of the exports of similar commodities in the country, reaching 56.7%; mechanical and electrical products exported 5.96 trillion yuan, accounting for 39.4% of similar commodities in the country. Smart manufacturing products such as integrated circuits, lithium batteries, smartphones, tablets, etc. are the main forces in the export of electromechanical products in the Yangtze River Delta region.

In terms of expanding the foreign trade market, the Yangtze River Delta region continues to consolidate the traditional market on the one hand, and on the other hand, relying on the "Belt and Road" initiative to actively explore emerging markets. In 2024, the Yangtze River Delta region will import and export 7.7 trillion yuan to countries jointly built the "Belt and Road" countries, import and export 4.9 trillion yuan to other RCEP members, and import and export to other BRICS countries will be 2.13 trillion yuan. The global market share is constantly consolidating and increasing, and the level of opening up continues to expand, which plays a positive role in promoting high-quality development of national foreign trade.
