The Chongqing-Kunming High-speed Railway under construction is an important part of the Beijing-Kunming Channel of my country's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network. During the Spring Festival holiday, more than 400 builders stood on the front line, and the construction of the longest tunnel on the whole line entered the sprint stage.

Looking from the air, Yanjin County, built along the river, is like a line in a canyon. It took more than two hours to walk along the mountain road from the county town before the reporter arrived at the Yiliang Tunnel construction site 50 kilometers away. As a key control project on the entire Chongqing-Kunming High-speed Railway, since the construction of the Yiliang Tunnel, which has a nearly 25-kilometer length, has brought considerable difficulties to construction since the start of construction in 2021.

In recent times, the construction area has been in a stage of high ground stress deformation. The working surface, which is more than 700 meters away from the top of the mountain, has deformed under the continuous squeeze of the mountain, and cracks have appeared on the top of the tunnel that has been excavated, so everyone is particularly careful in construction.

Just as everyone was digging forward, a rock burst suddenly occurred on a working surface, and the construction workers took timely response measures.

In order to ensure the progress of construction, Yiliang Tunnel adopts the construction method of multiple operating surfaces in sections. Now, there are still 12 working surfaces for construction at the same time. Great deformation of soft rocks, water and mud, high ground heat... The challenges encountered by everyone are different in different operating areas.

This work surface is encountering a high ground temperature section. It is constructed at a high temperature of more than 40 degrees Celsius. Every once in a while, everyone has to rest in front of the ice cubes used to cool down.

Ye Guohong from Chongqing has participated in the construction of more than 20 tunnels. Speaking of this railway connecting his hometown and Yunnan, Ye Guohong is full of expectations.

This Spring Festival, with everyone's concerted efforts to overcome difficulties, the excavation and construction of the Yiliang Tunnel more than 700 meters of large deformation section has exceeded more than half, and the entire tunnel has entered the final excavation sprint stage of less than 7 kilometers.
