The reporter from the General Station learned from Sun Yat-sen University on February 3 that on February 1, the "Sun Yat-sen University Polar" successfully completed the ship-shore sea ice coordinated observation in the Bohai ice area-Yingkou, Liaoning. For the first time, it successfully tried the sea ice synchronous observation of satellite remote sensing-drone flight-scientific research vessels in the sea ice area at the lowest latitude of the northern hemisphere, and accumulated valuable experience for the development of the polar three-dimensional observation technology system.

According to the scientific expedition team, at 10 a.m. on February 1, the "Sunshan University Polar" took the lead in carrying out drone observation operations. The drone observation team used DJI drones to conduct orthophoto mapping of Bohai sea ice with ships as the center. CTD observation and ice harvesting operations were carried out on the deck at the same time to obtain physical, chemical and ecological parameters such as sea water temperature and salinity, sea ice temperature, salinity and thickness.

The shore-based observation team of the School of Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology of Sun Yat-sen University also used drones to conduct observation experiments simultaneously using drones near the Jinshatan coast in Bayuquan District, Yingkou, Liaoning. The drone is equipped with optical payloads, and set off from the coast, and carried out Bohai sea ice surveying and mapping operations with the "Sunshan University Polar" as the center.

According to reports, this coordinated sea ice observation can not only provide high-precision and accurate verification data for Bohai Sea ice situation analysis, satellite remote sensing sea ice inversion algorithm and product inspection, but also have great significance for a deep understanding of the Bohai Sea ice generation and depletion process and its understanding of the Bohai Sea ice characteristics and regulation mechanism.

The "Sunshan University Polar" is the first polar ice-breaking scientific research ship from a university in my country, and has the ability to conduct a deep scientific research in the polar sea. This voyage departed from Nansha, Guangzhou on January 4 and was organized and executed by Sun Yat-sen University. It is the first comprehensive winter Bohai Sea Ice-Ocean-Ecological Survey in China, jointly participated by 12 domestic universities and research institutes.
