The reporter learned from China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd. on February 3 that the railway-sea intermodal transport train of the Western Land-Sea New Channel transported a total of 104,000 standard containers of cargo in January this year, an increase of 30.9% year-on-year, continuing to maintain a rapid growth rate. Among them, the number of 100,000 TEUs on January 29 exceeded 15 days earlier than in 2024, and the fastest year for the number of cargo transported exceeded 100,000 TEUs since its opening in 2017.

Qinzhou Port East Station is the hub station of the railway-sea intermodal train of the Western Land-Sea New Channel. Many imported and exported goods gather here, bringing more choices to domestic and foreign consumers. In addition, Guangxi Coastal Railway Company leverages the advantages of seamless connection between railways and Beibu Gulf Port, takes highway port cargo sources as a breakthrough point, actively develops new sources of goods, continuously expands the transportation market, and attracts more sources of goods to choose railway-sea intermodal transport, with 1,166 types of goods transported.

"In January this year, the Western Land-Sea New Pass train had a large shipment of phosphate powder, zinc concentrate, wax stone, pulp and other goods, and the demand for New Year's goods such as rapeseed oil and rice was also relatively strong. There were about 24 trains arriving at the station every day, providing capacity guarantee for enriching the New Year's goods market during the Spring Festival and meeting the production of enterprises during the festival." Wei Wenkang, director of Qinzhou Port East Station, said.

Since this year, the shipping volume of coal and bauxite goods at Qinzhou Port East Station has continued to rise, and the demand for open-top boxes has increased. To this end, the Nanning Bureau of the National Railways coordinated the use of vehicles in Qinzhou Port area and gave priority to organizing the distribution of empty open-top boxes to Qinzhou Port East Station to effectively solve the problem of insufficient empty boxes. At the same time, we will coordinate the addition of 7 front cranes, increase shunting personnel, improve container loading and unloading operation capabilities, and meet transportation needs.
