The meeting emphasized that we must adhere to protection first, speed up the formulation and revision of supporting systems such as standards and specifications for the protection and management of ancient trees and famous trees, and implement regulations on hierarchical and classified protection, daily maintenance, logging and transplant management. We must make rational use of ancient trees and famous trees resources, fully explore the historical and cultural connotations, carry out ecological tourism, scientific research and other activities in an orderly manner, do a good job in scientific research and scientific publicity on maintenance and treatment, and severely crack down on illegal acts such as poisoning ancient trees and illegal logging, and guide the whole society to enhance its protection awareness and form a joint force for protection.

The ancient trees and famous trees are known as "green national treasures" and "living cultural relics". They carry the long history and splendid culture of Chinese civilization, embrace the people's nostalgia, and continue the high-quality long-lived biological genes. They are very important species resources, landscape resources and ecological resources.

According to the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, under the guidance and support of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, Beijing Municipal Landscape and Greening Bureau and other departments, Beijing Forestry University has taken the lead in carrying out scientific and technological research and technical services for the protection of ancient trees and famous trees in the country. Relying on the support of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration's project, Beijing Science and Technology Plan Project and other projects, in response to the problems of age identification and health evaluation of ancient trees, a lossless and accurate age identification method based on CT spectrum and DNA telomeres was established, and an efficient and accurate annual ring automatic identification and counting system was built using artificial intelligence technology.

A relevant person in charge of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration said that the promulgation of the "Regulations on the Protection of Ancient Trees and Famous Trees (Draft)" will provide a more solid legal basis for the protection of ancient trees and famous trees. In the future, with the continuous improvement of the protection system, the continuous strengthening of scientific and technological support, and the stricter law enforcement and supervision, the good atmosphere for the whole society to jointly protect ancient trees and famous trees will surely become increasingly strong.
