The reporter learned from the 2026 Global Panda Partners Conference held in Chengdu, Sichuan on the 3rd that as of now, my country’s captive population of giant pandas has reached 830, and the genetic diversity of the population continues to increase. In recent years, through the construction of ecological corridors, 13 local populations of giant pandas have returned to the extended family, and habitat connectivity has been significantly improved. More than 150 activities of giant pandas and other species have been monitored in the corridor area, and "visiting" and "blind dates" of giant pandas have become the norm. The giant panda is my country's unique flagship species and a star species in the world's biodiversity conservation. According to statistics, the total number of tourists visiting giant pandas worldwide exceeds 1 billion.
