China's summer grain output will exceed 300 billion jin for the first time in 2026

The national summer grain harvest will be bumper in 2026. The national summer grain planting area is basically stable, and the yield per unit area is stable and rising. The summer grain output is 301.49 billion kilograms, exceeding 300 billion kilograms for the first time.

According to a survey of 25 summer grain-producing provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country, the national summer grain sowing area, unit area yield, and total output in 2026 are as follows:

1. The national summer grain sowing area is 265.324 million hectares (397.986 million acres), a decrease of 460,000 hectares (690,000 acres) compared with 2025, a decrease of 0.2%.Among them, the wheat sown area is 230.068 thousand hectares (345.102 million acres), a decrease of 666,000 hectares (998,000 acres) compared with 2025, a decrease of 0.3%.

2. The national summer grain output per unit area is 5,681.6 kg/hectare (378.8 kg/acre), an increase of 47.5 kg/hectare (3.2 kg/acre) compared with 2025, an increase of 0.8%.Among them, the wheat yield per unit area was 6039.6 kg/ha (402.6 kg/mu), an increase of 51.4 kg/ha (3.4 kg/mu) compared with 2025, an increase of 0.9%.

3. The total national summer grain output is 150.746 million tons (301.49 billion catties), an increase of 1.000 million tons (2.00 billion catties) compared with 2025, an increase of 0.7%.Among them, wheat output was 138.952 million tons (277.90 billion catties), an increase of 783,000 tons (1.57 billion catties) compared with 2025, an increase of 0.6%.
